Today is Giving Tuesday. Most non-profits will match gifts made today until 11:59 pm.
I just donated in “honor” of Steve Bannon to the Southern Poverty Law Center (which tracks hate crimes and works to foster tolerance and understanding).
Here is the link:
Where it asks how to notify the “honoree,” I requested that a card be sent to Bannon at this address:
725 Fifth Avenue
New York, New York 10022
I tried to donate to the American Civil Liberties Union in “honor” of Trump,
but at the donation link there is no way to indicate who it is you wish to honor with your donation.
If you call the ACLU, you’ll get a message thanking callers for the increased interest
since the election and apologizing for their overwhelm.
(Yes,’overwhelm’ is a noun. I learned this from the mother of three children between the ages of 2 and 6.)
Donate anyway. No notification will be sent to Trump, but surely he knows that ACLU donations are spiking right now, and why.
Then go back and donate to SPLC again, this time in Trump’s name.
(The SPLC site would not accept the expiration date of my credit card until I cleared and entered it three times. Be persistent.)
Even small donations make a difference. Go ahead. Do it. Now.
